Yayasan Kossan Chinese New Year 2017
Chinese New Year also known as the Spring Festival is an important festival celebrated by the Chinese community.
It is the new year in the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. In 2017, it falls on the Year of the Rooster.
The plight of the underprivileged communities is not forgotten during this Chinese New Year as Yayasan Kossan visited a total of 19 welfare homes to ease some of their burden during the festive season.
Yayasan Kossan donated basic necessities such as rice, milo, canned food and other food items.
The delight on their faces was obvious when they received Mandarin Oranges and ‘Ang Pao’ as this practice is part of the Chinese New Year custom.
These welfare homes offer shelter to underprivileged communities and depend on public support to pay rental, utility bills, food, toiletries and medication. Hence, Yayasan Kossan would encourage the public to donate or support in any other possible way to reduce the burden of these homes.
Festivals should not be a burden or source of sorrow, it should be celebrated in true sense of love, joy and gratitude.
