Social Project: Donation to Flood Victims (January 2022)
The unprecedented flood that had hit Selangor on 18th December 2021 had caused catastrophic damage to the homes and vehicles of those affected. In some areas, entire townships were devastated by the floods, which will take months, if not years, for those affected to financially recover from.
One of the flood victims we identified was Puan Latipah binti Sulaiman. She is a single mother with six children, aged between six to 21 years old, and one of whom is afflicted with cerebral palsy. With 12 volunteers from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat, we helped to clean her house and launder her clothes that were muddied due to the flood water. We also donated household items such as a fridge, cooking stove, plastic cabinets, and a clothes dryer, as well as provisions like food items.
While we know that our contributions are small compared to the enormous burden carried by these flood victims, we hope that this effort will bring to light the stories of those in need. We hope more and more Malaysians will continue to reach out to help others, regardless of where they are.
