Social Aid: YK Deepavali Giveaway 2022 (October 2022)

For five days, Hindus across the world enjoy an array of beautiful lights, colors and sensations as they celebrate Deepavali. This holiday is often celebrated with family and friends and is marked by prayer, feasts, fireworks and charitable giving in commemoration of this annual festival of lights.

In conjunction with the celebration, YK held an event at the SJKT Methodist Kapar on 19th October from 9AM to 2PM. A total of 40 students from Standard 3, 4, 5, and 6 as well as 10 teachers were involved in the event. With 21 volunteers from Yayasan Kossan, the activities held include the rangoli, where patterns of bright colors were drawn to welcome guests as well as the Gods and Goddesses. Twenty students were split into five groups to create these intricate designs. A coloring event was also held between 20 individual students to bring more color and cheer to the day.

At the end of the event, the students enjoyed a special lunch meal provided by YK and received gifts for their participation. It was truly a memorable event that YK feels blessed to be a part of.
