Environment: Plant A Tree

(October 2024)

Yayasan Kossan recently collaborated with Free Tree Society (FTS) on two meaningful environmental programs, a continuation of previous collaborations with FTS. The first program was held at FTS Bangsar, with 20 volunteers participating, who were taught how to utilize rainwater tanks, make compost, and the correct techniques for plant propagation. At the end of the program, each volunteer was given the opportunity to select three types of plants to take home as a token of appreciation from FTS.

The second program took place at FTS Taman Tugu, involving 40 volunteers who were divided into two groups to engage in hybrid activities—tree planting and jungle walking. Throughout these activities, participants were exposed to the benefits of each tree, the layering of the forest, and the effects of greenhouse gases on the environment. Similar to the event at FTS Bangsar, each participant took home three plants as a token of appreciation.

These initiatives not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also enhance public awareness about the importance of forest conservation. As such, Yayasan Kossan invites public support to participate in upcoming green programs.
